Big Brother 19: Confirmed for Fall 2016

As I was at work this morning, I got the confirmation that Big Brother 19 will indeed be this Fall. I reported last week that there were rumors of this happening, but I can now tell you that it has been confirmed.

The big difference between BB19 and past BB seasons, is that BB19 will be *only* online through CBS All Access. (If you already have the live feeds, then you're already set up for BB19. If not, just click here to watch BB18 live feeds now & BB19 feeds a few days after this season ends.)

Another big difference is that there's no word on who the host will be. Julie Chen has not been mentioned as the returning host, so we'll have to wait and see on that one.

BB18 will end in September, and then we'll have just a few days (literally) to get ready for BB19. If you're wondering if I will be blogging BB19 this Fall, the answer is Yes! ;-)

Also, BB19 will be a little bit shorter than a normal BB season. A normal season is 13 weeks'ish, but BB19 will only be 10 weeks.  So get ready guys & gals, because we're gonna be spending the next 5 months together. (*I should just go buy coffee in bulk at this point. lol)

Will there still be a summer version, or is it all over for regular TV?

Sounds good to me! :)

No clue if this is just a one time thing or not.

All of the networks' new shows begin in Sept. They should hold off until January when there is literally NOTHING to watch.

Will we have to have all access to watch the show itself, or just the feeds?

i am also wondering if there will still be a summer version, or is it all over for regular TV?

Do we know if it's an all stars season? Would we have to pay for the all access? Questions.. Questions!!! Thank you Jamie!!

What about people in Canada? We can't even purchase the live feeds here!

This is all very strange and has me somewhat concerned.

First, if it is going to start right after BB18, I'm assuming it will be the exact same house design.

What about casting? They tried a last minute casting in BB9 when it aired in the spring and it was a total disaster. Or maybe they have several people already lined up from the spring casting. Or maybe it is all stars, but it that case you would expect it to air on national tv.

How is this season going to make any money if it is only online? I don't think they take that much in from the CBS all access sign up. I guess there are also ads online as well. Viewership will be well under a million (much less). Will production go on the untra cheap now. Look at the BB Canada house compared to the BBUS house, Canada is so much superior.

Is this the start of permanently being online only? Is BB18 the last regular season on BB?

For those wondering about having the feeds to watch bb19.....If you have the feeds then you already have cbs all access, which is what you need to watch bb19. Someone correct me if I am wrong about this. As for the summer version that comes on TV, I think I read somewhere that the summer show will still be available. Don't hold me to that though. Until CBS confirms it I won't say this for certain. Hopefully all of the shows get better from here because I am so bored with this season.

The trend in entertainment is "on demand" services. I think CBS wants to get users signed up for all access and used to watching favorite shows that way. Production costs are greatly reduced if the y don't have to pay for prime time slots. I imagine they'll keep costs down by having someone like Jeff host the show (a proven fan favorite!).

Another CBS show that will start out on broadcast TV then is supposed to switch to all access after a couple of episodes is the new Star Trek series, coming in January I think.

I'm cool.
Thanks for the update!!!

Watching BBAD and Paulie is being a huge jerk! Z should dump him immediately!

Oops, I keep forgetting that it's not a dating show! :)

IDK about you all, but all this means to me is that I have an amazing blog to read every morning with my cup of coffee :) I probably will not purchase the all access, but I definitely can get a good idea of what all is going on simply by reading Jamie's blogs.

I agree with Mama B! More posts from my favorite blog! Thanks Jamie :)

This kind of annoys me & I think CBS will alienate many other fans by doing this. I totally understand charging for the live feeds. But I pay $300/month for my cable & internet already. By paying that, I also have access to most other shows online, included in that price. It's shocking to me that HBO & Showtime (as examples), are "free" online when you subscribe to those channels, yet CBS charges for access to watch their shows even though you may already pay for that channel. Not saying I definately won't end up doing it, but it's highly unlikely.
